Thank you for considering adopting from The Labrador Connection. We currently cover Northern IL and Southern WI. If you are outside these areas, we unfortunately can’t adopt to you and suggest you contact your local rescues. Below are common questions and answers about our adoption process. If you do not find an answer to your question below, please feel free to contact us.
How Does the adoption process work?
- Complete the application.
- Have a virtual home visit with a TLC Volunteer.
- Once approved, meet foster/s you are interested in. Approved applications are only valid for 1 year. After that timeframe, you will have to reapply. If you have adopted from TLC in the past, you are approved and no need to reapply.

How Long does the Process Take?
That depends on what you are looking for.
If you are open to color, sex, and age the process could be as short as a few weeks.
What is the Cost to Adopt a Lab? (Effective March 1, 2019)
Up to 6 Months = $400.00
6 Months – 10 Years = $350.00
10 Years Plus = $150.00
This donation will include:
- Spay or Neutering
- Vaccinations including Rabies
- Heartworm test
- Microchip
- Any other medical issues that arise while in foster care
